The next version of Nutanix’s Acropolis Operating System was released today. AOS 6.10 brings major feature improvements and performance boosts to customers still running the last LTS, AOS 6.5.
Notable features:
- Rocky Linux – AOS no longer relies on the now deprecated CentOS
- Emerald Rapid CPU Support
- Performance improvements from 6.6, 6.7, and 6.8 rolled into 6.10.
- Autonomous Extent Store (AES) Optimized Metadata – 17% increase in IOPS with a 16% reduction in latency. This is huge for our heavy SQL workloads.
- All Flash NVME node size now surpasses 300TB. (307TB in 2U!)
- Nutanix V4 API’s – finally we’re starting to see API standardization across the product catalogue.
- IP-less Communication Between NGT and CVM (IP-Less NGT) – I’m hoping this is a sign that NGT is starting to head towards being centrally managed.
We’ve installed 6.10 in our lab and I’m happy to report that we’ve had no issues thus far. I will note – you NEED to be on PC2024.2. Please plan accordingly!
